February 27-March 2: 28th Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 Desert Race
More than 200 cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs compete on a challenging loop course that starts and finishes in the town of San Felipe on the Sea of Cortés. The course for cars, trucks and Pro motorcycle classes will be one loop of approximately 272 miles and the Sportsman motorcycle and ATV classes will race one loop of approximately 250 miles. The course will include approximately 150 miles never used before in this SCORE Baja race. On Friday, the pre-race contingency row and tech inspection is from 10am-6pm on downtown San Felipe’s waterfront malecón. On Saturday, motorcycles and ATVs take off at 6am, followed by trucks and cars at approximately 10am, at the start/finish line located at the landmark San Felipe arches. February 27-March 4: Carnaval Ensenada 2014 “Música, Color y Alegría (Music, Color and Joy)”
One of the city’s largest and most popular events, Mardi Gras attracts a multitude of national and international visitors. Enjoy regional foods and libations, games and rides, live entertainment, music and dancing at this year’s beachfront festival zone along the southern extension of Blvd. Costero (Lázaro Cárdenas) in Playa Hermosa. Traditional highlights include the Coronation of the Children’s Royal Court and the Quema de Mal Humor (Burning of Bad Humor) on Thursday at 8pm; the Coronation of the Adult’s Royal Court on Friday at 8pm; “Carnaval Cultural” special event at Bodegas de Santo Tomás winery on Saturday and Sunday at 7pm; the Baile del Marido Oprimido (Oppressed Spouse Dance) at the Hotel Bahía on Monday at 8pm; and the comparsas dance troupes contest & award ceremony at Salón Casa Blanca on Tuesday at 7pm. The Carnaval parades start at 2pm on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday and travel from the northern entrance to Ensenada (near the Pemex and Proturismo office) along all of Blvd. Costero to the festival zone at Playa Hermosa. May 3: 35th Anniversary Spring Rosarito-Ensenada Fun Bicycle Ride
Thousands of cyclists participate in this scenic 50-mile ride that starts at 10am in downtown Rosarito and finishes in downtown Ensenada. For the first time in the history of this event, a change in the route will take entrants from Rosarito to Alisitos on the free road, and then along the scenic (toll) road, which will feature a dazzling view of the bay at Salsipuedes. At Km. 93, there will be a 328 yards-long embankment that was specially conditioned to give safe passage across the road’s repair zone to cyclists registered for this ride. The legendary desert race in which nearly 300 cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and ATVs from 16 U.S. states and 6 countries traverse over 500 miles of rugged mountain, forest and desert terrain in their attempts to “beat the Baja.” This year’s race, which includes new or seldom-used sections in the course, starts and finishes in front of Ensenada’s historic Riviera Cultural Center on Blvd. Costero (Lázaro Cárdenas). Thousands of cyclists participate in this scenic 50-mile ride that starts at 10am in downtown Rosarito and follows the Free Road along the Pacific Coast and inland through rural countryside to the finish line in Ensenada. November 2: Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead in Mexico)

Día de Muertos is one of Mexico's most traditional religious holidays as deceased loved ones are remembered with special altars, marigold flowers (flores de cempasúchil), candles and their favorite foods. A sweet bread, pan de muertos, can be found at bakeries, and candy skulls, coffins and skeletons are featured at dulcerías. Celebrations and candlelight processions are held in local cemeteries.

November 12-16: 47th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
Chronicled in the 2005 full length feature documentary “Dust to Glory,” the Baja 1000 is the legendary desert race in which more than 300 cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs challenge nearly 1,000 miles of rugged mountain, forest and desert terrain in their attempts to “beat the Baja.” This year’s 1,130-mile point-to-point race starts in Ensenada in the state of Baja California and finishes in La Paz in the state of Baja California Sur.
