February 18: Off-Road Ecological Ride
9am-4pm: Racers and racing fans are invited to help clean up litter on the desert race course between Ojos Negros and Valle de Trinidad. March 9-11: 21st Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 250
Because of irreconcilable differences between the city of San Felipe and one of the San Felipe ejido land groups, the Tecate SCORE San Felipe was officially moved to the municipality of Ensenada as of February 26. This year’s race will start at the end of Ave. Ruiz in Ensenada, approximately two miles east of downtown, and finish in the Santo Tomás baseball field along Highway 1, 1.5 miles south of the center of Santo Tomás. A race-record field of 394 cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs will compete in the challenging 216-mile desert race. Friday is the SCORE midway and tech inspection from 10am-6pm across from Hotel San Nicolás in downtown Ensenada. Saturday race start is 6am for motorcycles and ATVs, followed by car and truck classes at approximately 10am. Drivers will have 9 hours to officially finish the elapsed time race. 2pm: Dutch mezzo-soprano Christel Veraart presents a program of carefully selected repertory from the time the Baja missions were built at the Misión San Francisco de Borja Adac, located southwest of Bahía de los Angeles. 2pm: Ensenada artist Alfonso Arámbula unveils his new sculptures of Sancho Panza and his burro, Rucio, which will join his existing sculptures of Don Quijote and his horse, Rocinante, at the Esquina de la Democracia, Av. Guadalupe & Calle 2, Ensenada. The internationally renowned sculptor is donating these works to the City of Ensenada and there will be an inaugural street party with live music and poetry readings that is open to the public (free admission). March 25: Copa Powerade 2007 (First Stage)
More than 400 riders from both sides of the border compete in the first race of the Mountain Bike State Championships at Rancho El Olvido, located northwest of Ensenada. April 27-29: Lexus Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race
The world’s largest international yacht race begins at noon on Friday in Newport Beach, California and concludes with an award ceremony on at 2pm on Sunday at Hotel Bahía in Ensenada. November 2: Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead in Mexico)
Día de Muertos is one of Mexico's most traditional religious holidays as deceased loved ones are remembered with special altars, flowers, candles and their favorite foods. A sweet bread, pan de muertos, can be found at bakeries, and candy skulls, coffins and skeletons are featured at dulcerías. Celebrations and candlelight processions are held in local cemeteries.

November 10-16: 40th Anniversary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000
Chronicled in the 2005 full length feature documentary “Dust to Glory,” the Baja 1000 is the legendary off-road race in which more than 400 cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs challenge nearly 1,300 miles of rugged mountain, forest and desert terrain in their attempts to “beat the Baja.” Pre-race activities include a vintage off-road vehicle display in Tijuana on November 10, a vehicle parade from Tijuana to Ensenada on November 11, and the traditional Manufacturer’s Midway and tech inspection from 10am-5:30pm near Ensenada’s Hotel San Nicolás on November 12. On November 13, motorcycles and ATVs start the race in front of Ensenada’s Riviera Cultural Center at 6:30am, followed by trucks and cars at 11am (or three hours after the last ATV departs). The fastest racers are expected to cross the finish line in Cabo San Lucas in approximately 22 hours but vehicles have 53 hours to officially finish. The post-race Survivor’s Celebration and awards presentation start at noon on November 16 at the Playa Cascadas, next to Villa del Palmar Resort, the SCORE race headquarters in Cabo. 1pm: A memorial tribute to Ensenada artist and Grupo Gitanos musician Theresa Varela, who fought bravely but succumbed to cancer on October 31. There will an art auction, a sale of the Gitanos CD “Canto a la Vida,” and other fund-raising activities that will help her husband, Sextos, to defray her medical expenses. Friends are invited to bring their own beverage plus an appetizer or dessert, and share their memories and special photos of Theresa, whose life touched those of many throughout the Baja California peninsula.
