Once again vocalist/guitarist Gilberto Cerezo, guitarist
Carlos Chairez, keyboardist Ulises Lozano, bassist César Pliego,
and drummer Omar Gongora delivered a compelling, high-energy performance
in Ensenada. Collectively known as Kinky,
the five-man band from Monterrey, Mexico rocked the roof of the House Skatepark
on the night of November 19, 2005.
They
opened with their signature anthem, “Más,” segued into “Cornman,”
and then performed numerous hits from their 2003 Grammy-nominated debut
album “Kinky” and their 2004 Latin Grammy-nominated album “Atlas,” as well
as several songs from their new album, tentatively scheduled for a late
spring 2006 release.
As the enthusiastic crowd cheered and chanted
in unison to their songs, the agile musicians cavorted across the stage,
never missing one pulsating beat. Under the watchful eyes of security guards,
vocalist Gilberto Cerezo danced downstage several times into the hot arms
and throbbing hearts of local señoritas, much to their delight.
After the concert, band members signed autographs and posed for photos
with their fans.
Internationally acclaimed for their eclectic sound,
a mixture of electronic-funk-rock genres, Kinky again lived up to their
reputation as one of the best live performing bands in the music business.
To experience Kinky in concert is a special treat, a remarkable performance
from the modern heart and soul of Mexico.
